Whats really crazy is surface temps where low 40's when it was snowing with the front passage.....long range looks flip floppy so its gonna warm up a bit next week but Canada looks to reload deep cold and dump it into the northern plains the question is then where does it go and how long does it take to get there lol....I am guessing warm for Xmas right now a day or two ahead of a strong prolonged cold period, key word is guessing.
I stumbled across an interesting notation in today's afternoon AFD from (of all places) Boston, MA, discussing the east-coast weather pattern a week from now -- "Friday onward" --
THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ICE STORM OVER THE SE CONUS AND POTENTIALLY ON UP THE E COAST EXISTS AS THE COLD FRONT IS SLOW TO PUSH OUT WHILE TAKING ON ANAFRONTAL CHARACTERISTICS. THERE'S STILL A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY, BUT CAN'T IGNORE THE GENERAL SYNOPTIC PATTERN.

Yep interesting times ahead. The Euro is actually showing some snow on Christmas Day for almost all of NC, several inches actually. The GFS is much warmer so it looks like another battle of the models setting up again.
I'll be in Rhode Island for a week around Christmas. I just hope all the action isn't down here in my absence. Also, that my electricity doesn't go out while I'm gone and spoil everything in my freezer.

Oh well. Nothing I can do about that.
Losing the freezer is horrible. After Irene dowm at the club people dumped their spoiled food at the driveways to the club and it was rancid. Horrible smelling to say the least.

Looking damp and cool for Xmas, drizzle and 42 is gonna suck......heck of a cold shot mid week after Xmas though with highs in the 20's to near 30 with lows in the teens most likely if it pans out...

Still a lot of support for some cold and moisture getting together anywhere from say Dec 28-Jan 6 that whole week looks doable depending on timing etc, folks on AMWX trying to lock down individual waves etc this far out and that's just dumb......chances are getting higher that a lot of NC and SC see ice and or snow in this time frame.
