Through all of 10 forecast iterations, starting at mid-afternoon yesterday and right through the 7:18 PM issuance tonight, my local Thursday afternoon/evening POP was kept pegged at 50%. And yet, it's been the Gobi Desert, not only at my house, but within a gazillion miles of here. So dumb. So typical. So tiresome.
I wish the Weather Service would quit forecasting rain. Then maybe I'd get a drop or two.
Exact opposite in Florida. We had 20-30% chances and had rain within a few miles of us everyday with a couple days of decent rain for a short time. Had one huge severe cell 20 miles from me that put out some of the most incredible mammatus I have ever seen.
Saw mammatus clouds only once in my life and that was down in Wilmington. Truly an incredible sky. Glad you were treated to such a magnificent show!
On the negative side, ugh, our first heat wave of the summer is quickly approaching. Well, it's always just a matter of time before one arrives, otherwise it wouldn't be summer. :-)

This was an awesome shot as the precip falling out of high anvil created a rainbow as the precip lightened up. It was a great view that night. We were at epcot at sunset. Really awesome views.
