GFS has a long track Cape Verde storm that forms in 6-7 days and curves up towards Bermuda at the end of the run....first one of the season modeled like this so we will see if the GFS has improved any on sniffing out Atl storms.

Still has the development but it carries it west and if falls apart in the northern islands. That's been a common occurrence the last several seasons
I hope the GFS is right we need something to break this heat. Getting in the car after church this afternoon I broke a sweat just doing that, it's way too hot out there! Larry Cosgrove is calling for the tropics to begin heating up in the 10-15 day range.
Typically early Aug is when we start to see a ramp up in storm numbers and frequency....
Yeah and with this being a weak La NiƱa right now it could be quite active if it follows typical years. We definitely need some relief from the heat and I would like a nice storm to track.

GFS keeps the offshore waters stormy but doesnt have nearly the organization it had a few days ago.....still with the ridge slipping east some anything that does form would wanna head WNW or NW....

Yeah definitely looks stormy in the LR and we know that it doesn't take long for something to spin up over the Gulf Stream if conditions are favorable. The SST's are warming up nicely with the hot weather we are seeing now which will help add some juice for anything that meanders in that area.
Models quiet for the next few weeks tropics wise, of course with 5 named storms already we could go the entire month without another storm and be on average since the average date for the 5th named system in the ATL is Aug 31st.....this would put the year on track for predictions of a near normal year.
