Just had a guy from GUC tell me they got a call saying imminent dam breakages occurring. GUC is rushing all available equipment to the mall as a staging area crest expected Monday morning. This is just from his mouth
The official height three weeks ago was 15.6 i think. Floyd was 18.52
What is this height referring too?
And can the tar river hit 27 with only 10-12 inches across its basin?
That was for the Cashie River in Bertie County. I think the issue with the Tar River is water having to be released from a dam to relieve pressure? Is that correct?

They seem to think so, I dont know but the video on FB etc I have seen of the water running like rivers in peoples yards and over roads etc I have only seen like that once before......Sept 1999
The water in my yard and neighbors yard was running 3-4" deep, the ditch in front of my house which is a deep ditch was almost totally full, I have never even seen it get past half way before....it had 3 ft of water in it thats insane...all of that water is gone now and it didnt soak in....maybe we get lucky and only go to 22-23 ft but I think a top 2-3 all time crest is coming.....

Which dam I bet the one at Lake Glenwood is struggling they lost it in Floyd...

The Lake Glenwood dam didn't fail in Floyd. It was over-topped for a while, which washed out Eastern Pines Road, but the dam structure itself held firm.

yeah I guess it was just around the overspill that washed out...if the entire dam went that would be something....Snow is right up the road from there we should wake him up and send him to check if that the one they are talking about....( are not many dams in Greenville )

Lowered the Tar River projected crest to 26 ft.....still anything over 24 ft basically shuts down the entire county and puts hundreds of roads under water etc....
Hwy 33/10th St into Greenville is closed apparently, or it should be until they know how things are under this road....the spot that washed out in Floyd looks to have done the same...I take this road everyday to and from work.....
Wow where were those pics taken at Steve? Yeah glad to see the Tar River crest is expected to be a little lower hope it goes down some more. It's still going to be awful for everyone affected by it.

Ill check for you guys! I doubt it was the Lake Glenwood dam though because after Floyd they built an overflow valve they can turn off/on. When hurricanes or big rain events come they can open this and really drain the lake level and keep it running while it rains to prevent it from rising too much. I'm guessing maybe it was some areas up towards Raleigh or rocky mount that could breach and add extra water to the tar river?
