Good afternoon Bozart. I look forward to seeing some interesting data from your system this summer ... but please let's not have any big time heat waves.
Will this be our year for a hurricane? Never know of course but chances look pretty good this year. Stay cool bro.
Tim in Greenville
Hi Tim. I admit I rather enjoy heat waves, as long as we can get the occasional thunderstorm. I also enjoy a nice hurricane show. But I have no idea whether we're in for either. Such things appear up to random chance in my eyes.
As for today … the WPC had forecasted a half inch at my location for the whole of Saturday and Sunday. When I first saw that forecast I thought it seemed a bit on the light side. But silly me: here it is Sunday evening, I've only had .10" of rain all weekend at my house -- and nothing on radar looks promising for the rest of the evening.

.90" here so far today, most came in a heavy shower band that trained over us for 45 mins or so around lunchtime I guess....as long as the rem low spins away to our south anyone could get in a band.....

I'm still sitting on the same .10" I started with early today. So it's been a typical tropical system for me so far.

yeah its gonna be hit or miss depending on if you get in a "band", starting to pick up now so hopefully you get a few heavy showers it doesnt take long if you do to rack up the rain.

It's kind of silly, really -- my wanting to see heavy rains. We don't need the rain right now; and the mosquitoes are already bad in my yard. There is no objective reason I should want to see heavy rains.

But I do.
Yeah I understand that....only people like us would, hearing thunder and if the storm holds up I might in for a quick .50", your rain shield seems to be holding.
Of course, it's breaking up and going either side of me.
My Bonnie event total so far: .11".
LOL
And why does this site keep changing the word -- well, of course I can't spell it out, but it's what you do to a slower vehicle ambling along in front of you in traffic -- to "ping"? It is extremely annoying.

What word is it changing to "ping"? You mean the word "honk"? I'll look into it for you and see what's going on!
Storms are missing me today so far but looks like Greenville is getting some good rain!
Hey Tim I like the new profile pic! Which hurricane is that? It looks like Ophelia?
BINGO!
Ophelia (80mph Cat 1) it is, and what a great storm she was. Crawling up the coast, Wilmington was in the western eye wall much of the day. We really got raked by that one.

The Fountain gauges are interesting today. While Bonnie was effectively a non-event for Eastern NC, as a side effect she's giving us a near-zero range in temperature, dew point, humidity and pressure. Our weather is in a coma!
