This storm is a prime example of why I can't stand the "people in the know" who state, "the ground is too warm" or, "it's December, we should just be happy to see snow this early." I don't know what rock they are under, but December has produced some of the greatest winter events I have ever seen. Low sun angle, u cannot beat it.
End rant...all.rain in wake co as usual.
I agree but yesterday Raleigh got the first December snow since 2010... so December has been a no go for snow in almost recent memory haha. In mine atleast.
Any chance that last band out west will finally give us eastern NC folks at least some snow? Ugg
you are not in eastern NC lol....you can maybe claim east central NC.....models are pretty much meh on it so at best maybe some flakes in the air though the storm has over performed in many ways this last band almost certainly wont be one of them since it would benefit us.

Well...I sure get screwed like eastern nc folks. I swear I got more snow when I lived in new bern...a lot more in wilson. South wake is the last place you want to be for winter weather. Great place to own a house though!
Everyone getting snow in Texas and along the Gulf Coast can kiss my brown Portuguese butt. That is all. Back to your regular programming... and rain.
We had a nice 35F and rain here all day yesterday. Had about 2” of rain. Hey we might see some flakes on the backside of the storm as it pivots through today and a piece of energy enhances lift.
Jeff, it’s looking like a solid dusting is possible as the back band reforms and pivots through.
The backend bands are so finicky though....the HRRR is beefing it up and MHX actually added snow into the grids for later this afternoon so we shall see, maybe a 20-30 min flizzard is possible.
Yeah...total crap storm. Problem is there is no move on to the next...unless it comes quick. Below normal December's lead to above normal winter.
In all honesty how many truly epic storms have we seen in our lifetimes? We had a couple big snows in the 80's. March 1980, white xmas snow of 89', and a couple in 87 and 88. The 90's were a dud with no memorable big snows. Then came dec 3rd which crushed us but left Raleigh out and the boxing day storm in 2010. So maybe 6 or 7 truly big 10+ inch snowfalls. I never expect big storms and we don't seem to get a lot of mid size events. Its usually go big or go bust.
I was driving in snow from Emporia, VA to Chesapeake, VA today. Had two hours of heavy snow in Williamsburg, VA too.
My inlaws had some decent snow on the Delaware coast and a couple inches over on the west side of philly. My sister in law in lewes had the most with what appeared to be 5 inches or so.
