Lol the GFS with its usual tricks again! I highly doubt we see any snow the way this winter has gone it will end up being another cold rain lol. Worth keeping an eye on though...
Larry Cosgrove is concerned about a major severe weather outbreak March 30th through April 1st timeframe across the Deep South and up into the Carolinas. Something to keep an eye on. Oh and the pollen out there is awful right now!
Euro kind hints at it too though on the maps I have seen at AMWX.....

Yeah but we know how the 200+ hour storms always end up... Not to mention we are entering April and it's quite rare to see accumulating snow in central or eastern NC this time of year. It has happened a few times but not often.. I think it'll end up being a cold rain, if anything. I'd rather it go ahead and warm up so we can get some storms to track instead.
GFS finally gave up on our April snowstorm, had it about 5-6 runs in a row.....still looks cold wit ha possible freeze first week of April.
Lol the story of our winter. Shows a little hope for 4-6 runs then loses it as we get closer. We have some severe weather to track soon though, end of March into early April could be a big outbreak. A lot of cloud and rain here today though, not sure this was expected.
GFS has a interesting LP forming in the GOM next week and behaving very much like a hybrid system.....will have to see of the models keeps it and how it handles it.....

SPC has an area of "marginal" severe weather chances extending into parts of NC for the 29th, I believe this was the system Larry Cosgrove was referencing. Could be our next player for severe weather, something to keep an eye on at least. For now the pollen is getting quite thick with the pine trees as the main source. April and May could be quite active from a severe weather standpoint as historically a weakening El Nino tends to produce more severe weather activity during these months with a hot summer to follow.

It's cool out there for sure, quite windy this morning too. A low of 33 Tuesday or Wednesday morning would be pretty bad for all the crops starting to come up and those who have started gardens.
I'm not sure the farmers have much down but I have seen several personal gardens already planted. I've got a blueberry bush and a peach tree with 40+ blossoms to protect.
MHX going 28 now Tues night, hope its wrong...then they go 33 Fri night and 29 Sat night so either way looks like we get a freeze.....
Pretty amazing. Freeze Watch now issued. Tomorrow night is going to be rare enough -- in the range of 10% of years -- but climatologically, the odds of getting us down into the upper 20s as late in the year as April 10th point to Saturday night as being a truly freakish event. My blueberry stands are fairly well sheltered, with tall trees all around. Still, that's skating mighty close to trouble.
My yard is a riot of azalea and dogwood flowers and butterflies right now. Poor things.
Yeah hopefully we can only be below freezing for a few hrs anything more than few hrs in the upper 20's is gonna be a killer......the CMC and the GFS where a little warmer only around 30-32 at 12Z
