Nice cluster of cells moving in. I think I'll go out and put my car under the shelter.
They'll surely fall apart or split around you now lol. They are pretty strong but with the loss of daytime heating they'll likely weaken below severe limits soon.

Indeed they are passing east and west, leaving me high and dry, as usual. But I can tell you this: the lightning in them is incredible. Near-continuous.

Nice storms all throughout the area, some big hail producers earlier today for western NC and one storm had some rotation on it. Severe storm just north of Greenville, expecting to hear something from some of you Eastern NC guys

Definitely power outages in the northern Greenville area. Not sure if lightning or wind caused it but I had several people post on our FB page that they had lost power. Also reports of small hail northern Greenville.
Bozart those storms in western NC were pretty wicked, too bad you couldn't chase any of those. One of them had some rotation with it and estimated winds of 70-80mph and golfball size hail at its peak. The irony is that the SPC didn't even have us in a marginal risk yesterday yet we saw a fairly active severe weather day.
SPC has a marginal risk across NC today and slight for Saturday. With all the sunshine and instability we are getting so far today we just need a trigger to get the storms going. If that shortwave over Tennessee makes it here in time then it will be game on.
Well, I chased that little cell that formed in Edgecombe County this afternoon. The first shot, I took near Macclesfield. And I just stuck with it, east-southeastward, into Pitt County, where it merged with another cell and rained out on the northwest side of Greenville.
I emphasize that despite the tornado look-alike shot, I never once saw any rotation. Just some nice non-rotating wall clouds.
Something to do.
Sorry about the orientation on two of these shots. Isn't there a way to edit that in this interface?

There you go Bozart, fixed it for you For some reason it was trying to auto-rotate two of your pictures, not sure why but its good now. The middle pic is pretty awesome, looks like that cell may have had some gusty winds with it. I was watching them on radar as they merged and it was indicating a possible area of localized winds 40-50mph at the peak but haven't heard any wind damage reports.
Had a nice line of storms move through early this morning, probably 4-5am? Not sure since I was half asleep when it woke me up but a little lightning and some gusty winds with torrential downpours.

4km Nam is really interesting for tomorrow. Develops a MCS in the foothills and races eastward. Would be widespread wind damage IF that actually happens. Actually pops a 1004mb low pressure due to the intense convection. We will see.
