Very up and down we get these crazy 5 min periods of gust well into the 50's and a few into the 60's based on the trees I hear snapping....then it will chill for a bit then ramp back up.....

Probably a result of the mixing and steep lapse rates. Winds should continue like this or increase some until about 1am and then begin to slack off according to the HRRR.

Latest HRRR says worst wind for Greenville comes between 11pm and 2am. It gets stronger next few hours as the wind gradient is shifting to the NW side.

It's been building here in S Martin County. Winds just let down for a but, but probably gusting into the low 50's, maybe higher. It's hard to tell. The way the house is oriented, both front and back doors are getting sideswiped and can't stay out long - haha.

If HRRR is to be believed the winds will be lighter till about 11pm as the structure finishes transitioning to extratropical. Then all the wind will be on the west side and the gradient tightens into a tight band of 60-80mph gusts about 30 miles wide. If this verifies wind will start picking up again 11pm or so.
