Had a storm fire right over me, had 2 close CTG strikes and 5 mins of moderate rain......today was pretty insane, cant remember ever getting over 119 heat index at PGV before.....I think maybe once before we hit 122 in 1998 or 2007-8 either way yuck.

Anyone ever see the storms fizzle like they have today? Like they are hitting a brick wall. Seems suspicious to me. Yes...I am getting paranoid.
Sky over wake co instantly had That stabilized look the sky has after a good storm passed...yet...there was no storm. It was eerie.
The warmest mid levels have been centered over central and southern NC which basically provides a "cap" to the storms and causes them to weaken. Jeff you need to check out my storm chase video posted from last week it was pretty impressive.
Wow 97/81 in Greenville with a HI of 119 is insane. I have to cut grass tomorrow morning then work in a warehouse the rest of the day, it's going to be a long day.

Here are two pics I was sent of the storm in New Bern yesterday. Someone on our FB weather page sent these to us. The heat out there is ridiculous, just riding on the mower I was drenched in sweat. I feel for those who have to work in this all day.

Let's just hope that stormier pattern verifies, models seem to be backing off some on the storminess and models may be trying to breakdown the ridge a little too quickly.
Drove a couple miles west towards Farmville to see if there was anything to this storm today. It had a decent gist front maybe 30ish and then as the storm pulsed down and back up there was a respectable few wind gusts but nothing severe.
