Flakes at the plant by the airport as well, skipped the whole rain then rain mixing with snow becoming all snow after 4am part of the forecast......MHX bumped the all snow till 10am was 8 then 9 now 10am.....to bad there is no real cold air to be tapped.....that said this thermal profile usually lends itself to big fat flakes once we get good and saturated expect dine to nickel size flakes to fly with some quarters mixed in. Should be enough to cover grass and elevated surfaces with a few inches while its coming down hard.....its all dependent upon the warm nose and how long it gives us before it cruelly swoops in and flips us to rain...
Big ole fat flakes flying, havent had sleet or rain at all started as snow and has been all snow the entire time.....cars totally covered already and even the ground starting to whiten even though temps are 35 last I saw at PGV though with these rates we might be closer to 32-33....

Here, too. But I'm betting that bright banding on radar, 10-20 miles to our south, is gonna spell the start of sleet and rain once it swings up and through. I've seen enough. Going to bed.
I only got out for 1 measurement on a metal elevated step coming into the plant. Had.2.5 then and it snowed a while after that but sadly I have no final measurement. The rate is was coming down I could see 3 inches in most of northern pitt county. That bright banding wasn't sleet but a nasty snow band that dumped serious snow for 3-4 hours. Without melting as it fell I wouldn't have been surprised if 4 inches or more fell all together. I apologize for the annoying sound to start the 2nd video that was my equipment restarting!
I stayed up for a few hours 'cause it was snowin' pretty good. While the radar returns over Greenville got up into the brown 40dbz, your area reached even into the orange 45dbz for a bit. Bein' I liked your radar echos better'n mine, am gonna call this a three incher for the medical district of Greenville unless and until I find otherwise.
Who would honestly say they didn't find this to be an over-performer? I was prepared for all rain, and was there any met with more than 2" at the top end of their forecast for us? Trying to keep it real I figured an inch if lucky, so to see three inches, well, that's just amazing. This one goes in the "WIN" column, and so early in the season!

There was, actually: the good ol' crew at the National Weather Service in Morehead City. They called it for 1 to 3 inches in Pitt County beginning with their zone package issuance yesterday afternoon at 1 p.m., and they stuck to their guns throughout -- even though Raleigh had Wilson and Edgecombe Counties to my west and north only getting up to an inch max. So I must admit, I'm pretty impressed with MHX for seeing it coming.
