Past few days have been nice with low 70s for highs and low 50s at night. Looks like we might get some rain from the Caribbean system in about 6-7 days.

There was a huge temp difference across the state yesterday. We were over near charlotte at the NC transportation museum for " a day out with thomas" and it was cool with a temp of 70 with heavy drizzle. As we drove home we steadily came through the drizzle and clouds and by Greensboro we were mid to upper 70's and by the time we hit raleigh it was 84. Overall we saw a 18 degree temp rise as we traveled east.
Of all the eastern NC Octobers I ever experienced, this is one of them. If you know what I mean.
long dry boring stretches of nothingness?
That does describe the typical eastern NC October. My quip made the (slightly different) point that this one is pretty much like all the rest.
About 25 years ago, the violinist Itzhak Perlman played the ECU campus auditorium. Later, I got to talk to the man who drove him to his hotel after the show. He asked Perlman if everything about his Greenville visit had been satisfactory. Perlman replied, "Oh, of all the towns I ever played, this was one of them." I've used the expression ever since.
Whoo boy, another gentle sprinkle. I've recorded .19" on the day, and it looks like there wont be much more.
The last 6 weeks have brought me 11 rain days, but only a 2.04" total. Pretty bad.
I am sitting at .68" for the day and temps dumped from 76 to 56 in 3 hrs....that line of storms around noon was pretty intense here almost .5" in 15 mins.

Keep this thread for Fall discussion! I’ll create a winter speculation thread as well. Me and snow have been in some pretty heavy research for this upcoming winter!
Boy did I love waking up to 39 this morning here in Wendell

Looks like the next few days are going to be fairly cool, cloudy and misty. Sunday could be pretty cold with the CAD setting up... if there is enough moisture might hold temps in the low 40s for most areas.
Finally broke the heat and have had some nice cold mornings but its been a dreadfully slow fall so far. Got a feeling this is gonna set up as a 58-64 for highs and 30-36 for lows type of winter. Nothing brutal either way. Of course I could be wrong and we could torch.
