Finally broke the heat and have had some nice cold mornings but its been a dreadfully slow fall so far. Got a feeling this is gonna set up as a 58-64 for highs and 30-36 for lows type of winter. Nothing brutal either way. Of course I could be wrong and we could torch.
Only 4.2" of rain at my house in the last 60 days, and not a drop in the forecast for at least the coming 7 days. Getting a mite dry out there.

I typically like and expect this time of year to be dry. I don't get out to hunt as much as I use to but I hate wet hunting seasons.
GFS shows the first real deal cold snap at the end of the run. Looks like we barely break freezing for a couple days.
Yeah models hinting at our winter really kicking into gear the second week for December. EURO weeklies have some beautiful snow patterns in the 3-4 week timeframe and GFS is now picking up on that same look in the extreme range!
IF these patterns arise be ready for some mid December snow threats.\
CHeck this out for some serious winter pattern with staying power. 500 MB doesn't budge for 100 hrs

Oh lordy .... it's coming. No rational explanation for it, but I have a strong feeling this is going to be one seriously weird winter. And as for my 14-year three inch snow ceiling, I wouldn't bet a nickel on it surviving through this season. I'm giving the "all clear" ... let this freight train roll baby!
