Shear is way to high for anything to get going, I am actually surprised it looks as good as it does and its already becoming extra/non tropical in nature, really at this point it wont matter if its a 45 mph TS or not, the surface low and the incoming trough will help create a area of lift over NC.....if it all comes together it should spell heavy rain with the worst between I95 and Hwy 17, the same goes for the wind with the strong high over NE the winds are gonna kick up even more. Its already sustaining in the upper teens gusting to mid 20's over most of eastern NC, it wont be crazy windy but there could be a period of sustained winds in the 20's gusting into the 40's over the same area especially tomorrow when the surface low is over the sounds. The central and northern OBX might even see some gust into the 50's. You can really see the rains breaking out inland over the Carolinas well removed from the center of the "low" there really is no LLC left and there is almost zero chance one forms at this stage.

Yeah looks like the rainfall totals won’t verify for most areas except the coast. I don’t see much of anything on radar to back up what NWS Raleigh said might happen.
Yeah you would thought the models would have a better grasp on it than that, though the Nam did start to back off last night....MHX still thinks the winds will be picking up in the morning they talk about it in their overnight AFD, seems kinda bold to go with the wind but I guess they believe in the gradient and mixing once the sun is up....this is still the point and click forecast for my part of Pitt Co lol
"Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 74. Windy, with a northeast wind 8 to 13 mph becoming southeast 21 to 31 mph. Winds could gust as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible."
