Haven't seen wind like that in a long time, not only fierce but surprisingly long duration. The storm struck just as I was at the front of my building preparing for a bike ride to the store. Normally I check the radar before leaving my apartment but just totally forgot this time. One look at the sky was all I needed to know I wasn't going to make it anywhere on my bike so I parked it inside the lobby.
Out front there's a large patch of woods with very tall pine trees, and boy were they bending wildly. I said to myself "****, it's blowing like 60 out there." The lightning was sparse and limited to the back side of the storm but those bolts came with loud cannon shots. So yea, we got it good here in the medical district part of Greenville, very good.

Drove by the hospital on my way to work this morning. Lots of minor tree damage with mostly large branches down. I don't think I saw an entire intact tree down anywhere. Oddly enough there was more damage around the medical district than there was by the airport.

Thanks for sharing with us Tim! Did you get any hail too, or just wind? How strong would you estimate the winds were?
There was no hail here. The rain started with those large drops one often sees at the front of a storm. After around five minutes or so of those big drops the storm unleashed its fury. Sheets of horizontal rain blasted us and the wind roared, reaching that familiar queasy level where you don't want it to go any higher.
As for guessing the wind speed, well, that's hard to do but I've seen enough tropical weather in Wilmington and nor'easters up north to have some idea so would say it certainly blew 50-60, and for a surprising stretch at that. Peak gust? Beats me, but wouldn't be surprised if it hit 70.
One big surprise was seeing rain penetrate my building's entrance. That's not an easy feat being it's a pair of heavy electronically-operated doors with a portico in front, and yet another larger, massive portico above that.

Slight risk today. With temps 90+ and high humidity we might see a few good storms.
The 12z 3K nam shows a decent line of storms forming up north of us then advancing southward while the HRRR shows a cluster form over to our SW and move towards us so some disagreement for sure in the hi-res models.
Nam looking more right so far solid line out west and one building to the NW as well......timing still a issue wont get here till after dark at this rate and we will lose a lot of instability, should still have enough though to at least sustain general thunderstorms if not severe ones.
