Hmmmm this is the hourly data from PGV for rain per hour.....based on how hard its rained today these numbers seem legit but that means PGV got 11"....this seems a tad high and it does include the thunderstorms yesterday so that means closer to 8" today...I dont know what to make of it, there is no doubt its rained hard for the last 10 hrs or so, so maybe it is correct it will be interesting to see what the NWS does with the data.

Hmmm those numbers don't look right, maybe the wind threw the measurements off somehow? Radar estimates for Greenville show a storm total between 4-6" depending on which radar you use. However sometimes radar estimates can be way off during tropical systems too. These past few hours its been coming down and winds keep picking up. Lost power for about an hour and it's back now.
Ron you have to admit my call for gusts of 40-50mph and sustained 20-30moh for Eastern NC is verifying pretty well Models did a great job picking up on the backside enhancement.
It was pretty rough there around midnight. It was also really rough on the way into work this morning. I can bet the radar did not have a handle on that rainfall. My windshield wipers couldn't keep up. The drops were small to medium sized and wind driven. No way radar is judging that up in a tropical setting.

I agree, radar only estimating I received 2.6" of rain but I know we had more than that. A friend who lives near me said he had measured closed to 6" which sounds about right. Those wind gusts are pretty insane too especially hurricane force at Duck.

Typically I wouldn't expect much from a weak cat 1 making landfall in Florida giving us much wind. Storms tend to decay pretty quickly once they make landfall but this setup was one that could sustain the winds and it did for the most the part. The wind field expanded and stayed up to tropical storm force which is pretty rare.
