NCHurricane, looks like some of those areas received 5" and more of rain in a short amount of time. We had almost 2" here and boy was it coming down. Wind even picked up with gusts in the 20-30mph range.
The Fountain weather station characteristically went down today just as the storm was moving in, but I can report that here at my house, 2 1/2 miles west of Fountain, I picked up 1.72" of rain.
In other news, my digital wireless thermometer finally died after something like 20 years, so today I ordered a new Ambient WS-10 with 8 -- count 'em -- 8 remote sensors, to handle the great outdoors and also my seven various cigar humidors and tobacco vaults. And the sensors can be individually calibrated for temperature and humidity -- a big technological improvement. All for $150.

Plenty of moisture streaming in from the Atlantic and models indicating a widespread 1-3" is possible the next 1-2 days. Some of the training bands could drop 3-4" or more.

I'm seeing radar estimated amounts of 9-10" of rain has fallen near Edenton, NC and then up to 12" of rain in SE VA. Plenty of moisture streaming in from the Atlantic still so those areas could all end up with well over a foot of rain.
Heck of a lot of rain here in southeast Greenville today ... definitely qualified as a "deluge". Fortunately, the soil and terrain here (gentle downslope towards downtown and the river) handles these things well; ponding is short-lived and I've never seen anything I would call flooding.

Taken about 20 minutes ago in Windsor
My hometown of Windsor is looking at another major flood, the third one in 18 years. Parts of the county looks to have received 14-16+" of rain. The Cashie River is already in the town and is not forecast to crest until tomorrow afternoon. I've only received around 6" in during the same amount of time. Crazy stuff.

Wow that looks pretty bad NCHurricane. Is your house safely above the flood waters? Does it look like a lot of places will be flooded from the rising waters? Unfortunately looks like a few more inches could fall across Eastern NC today during the heating of the day if the HRRR is right.
Bet I have had 1.5-2" of rain in the last 30 mins....
Yeah I was riding through it with my parents down Arlington Boulevard. Two of the lanes were completely flooded from the downpour, only the middle two lanes were drivable. Hopefully none of this heads towards Windsor as the flooding there is really bad...
