The GFS has some highs in the 60's and lows in the low to mid 40's around the beginning of Oct.....a pretty good pattern change looks in the works......the first real taste of spring in just a week away....

Looks like AMWX is down and might be really having issues getting it resolved, going on like 3-4 days now at least.....might get some traffic pick up here....
GFS getting wishy washy with my cool air......needs to bring it

I've generally been skeptical of global warming but years of extended summers is pretty clear now and it's not just a trend. I remember hunting in the cold alot a decade ago and now we're lucky to have a freeze before thanksgiving.

Phew... today was amazing weather. Took a little hike this afternoon soaking in the non-95degree temps. Love it! Got the gas fireplace rigged up to a 20lb tank (obviously just for the atmosphere of a fire) and ready for some crisp winter nights!
Maybe first frost tonight, if so that about a week early, this week is going to be IMO the first legit week of fall and maybe just maybe we wont see too many more days with temps above 70 till next March/April.....average first frost around these parts is Oct 28-31st.....

Had some serious frost here in NW Johnson county a few days ago! Regardless of winter I LOVE this fall weather.
PGV hit 32 this morning for one observation, thats the earliest its hit 32 at PGV since 1992.....I didnt see how much frost there was since I was asleep but I imagine it was a decent one given most of the night was spent at 34.

The lowest reading I see from RWI is 36, which is also the low that I recorded at my house. I believed last year, and I still believe, that PGV has a sensor or siting problem.

PGV sits on a swamp does it not? Perhaps "cold drainage" is affecting their overnight temps?

The airport sits in a bowl, on sandy soil and is most definitely a low spot...I work a mile from the airport and the temp on my truck often matches PGV to within a degree at work......it will be 36 at my house on the truck and stay that way all the way to Gville Blvd but drop to 30-32 almost as soon as I go down the hill from Hastings Ford down to the river on my way to work on mornings like Monday.....in good radiational cooling conditions you can probably add 3-5 degress to the PGV temp to get the average temp in town.....that said my vehicles had a heavy coating of ice Monday morning wasnt even typical frost as much as just straight up frozen dew...
