Would like to see a pattern change lock in before mid Jan but the models still dont show any real love in the cold much less winter weather dept......some indication though things trend colder mid month.....
Does anyone know a moderator over on americanwx? I’m waiting for approval so I can post once again. For some reason my stuff got jacked up I guess and now I need moderator approval to post. Anyone help?

Models are icy for the piedmont and they can have it. Other than that it's the same old song and dance on the models. Pattern is pretty locked in and it's been my experience models will show changes but the current pattern tends to hold strong longer.
Probably going to need a storm thread for this weekends storm MHX officially has rain/snow in the grids.....still looks to be more of as threat to the west but plenty of time for things to change. Also the 6Z GFS has 3 snow events for us the new GFS however doesn't.....fun times

Typically I would say our sucky NWS discos could be blamed on the shutdown. However they sucked before the shutdown and are once again back to copy and paste long range discos in the face of another storm.

Yeah, I'm not sure what MHX's deal is, although I suspect it has to do with funding and staffing. Hard to get them to admit anything real, though.
Yet another copy and paste today from mhx. Getting shameful that in the face of any impending event they can just punt and just not issue extended discos.

FV3 has a new miss on a Alberta Clipper that bombs off Norfolk in 9 days that drops 6-10" in the Tidewater and a dusting here but if its ends up more south could be one of those eastern NC specials we love...
also the 12Z FV3 had this in 15 days lol.....
