I officially despise summer now. Yesterday was a scorcher for sure but the humidity was low so sitting outside In the shade in the breeze wasn't too horrible. You just couldn't do much else.
Today is just downright oppressive. Nowhere near as hot but sitting outside doing nothing and I'm soaked from sweat.
I am eagerly awaiting late September and the month of October which is by far my favorite time of year.
At least summer is supposed to bring thunderstorms, which can be interesting. Yesterday the forecasts had given me to understand I was in for a half-inch to an inch by end of day today. What I got instead was .15".
So far the 3knam has been pretty bad with this rain threat. Even as late as last evenings 18z run it was showing some very heavy rain and it has not materialized. The hrrr has been much better keeping heavier rain confined to the coast.
Some big showers coming in this morning hope everybody get some needed rain.
Anybody want to take a guess at what that was on the radar this morning that started at Aurora and then arced outwards?
.08" at my house. So no, I didn't get any needed rain -- because I needed a lot more than that. I realize most people got more rain than .08", but then you have to remember who you're dealing with here.
I'm guessing the arcing out on the radar that you're seeing is birds, leaving their roosts. Not sure, though.
A northbound thunderstorm right now on west side of Greenville. Looking at the radar mosaic at the bottom of the screen that sure is a strange looking pattern for this time of year. Can't be sure but it looks like there are two ULLs or perhaps one very large one? Precip across the entire screen is rotating counterclockwise. Y'all noticing the humidity too? Ugh.
