Autumn is that time of year where the weather becomes cooler, trees become dazzling displays of vivid colours, nights get longer and mist weaves through the valleys like fluff! But Autumn isn't for everyone and there may be aspects about the season that you love and/or hate. What would you say you like or dislike about Autumn?
There is nothing i dislike about autumn. The smell of freshly turned over fields, colors turning that rusty red or brown color, soybean fields turning yellow or orange. Cool morning's mean deer season is approaching.
The only dislike I could think of are the larger than normal spiders that fill the woods with webs.
Nothing. I love everything about fall. It's hurricane season! Then I look foward to the first frost freeze. Gets me excited about winter! The leaf change...I can actually sit outside all day and smoke something on the grill without sweating.I do not like hot weather. Fall is the perfect season. Heck...the first of fall is also perfect for the beach! The end of fall for a good snowstorm. Does not get any better. (Except winter).
You can always count on me for a different perspective.
Autumn is about death. The colors are dazzling, it is true, but something else that changes colors while decomposing is a corpse. Nobody thinks that's pretty. Nobody goes on corpse-watching car trips.
Autumn heralds imminent winter, and around here that normally means a miserable, boring, useless, joyless, muddy 4-month passage, one that I have no use for in my older years. And pitch dark at 5 p.m.? No thank you! There's nothing good about winter, but autumn just wants to ring in the winter like it's something to look forward to. Ick.
Now, if you enjoy fall weather (I completely understand), then I would commend you to its mirror image -- spring! You get all the same refreshing temperatures, plus the chance for some severe thunderstorms, plus the bright promise of a long, glorious Carolina summer stretched out before you. Plus lengthening days. Plus the triumph of knowing you've just survived another dying season. What's not to like about spring?
Autumn is to weather what autumn is to life -- a daily reminder that all the good is gone, or that it soon will be.
There.

Well bozart the bad thing about spring is that in all its glory it brings with it new life and new growth and POLLEN. Some of us poor saps have a rough couple of months and its hard to enjoy the spring through itchy eyes and the sneezing.

I enjoy the beautiful scenery as the trees change colors, especially in the mountains. The cooler temperatures, lower humidity and beautiful blue skies are welcome sights as well. The one thing I dislike about fall would definitely have to be the dry spells and boring weather we usually see in October and early November. Of course, we haven’t really had much to look forward to in the weather world this year and winter doesn’t bring much hope either with a Niña setting in.
Sept-Nov is one of if not my favorite weather period....unlike spring the air is usually dryer and the cool crisp mornings followed by cool breezy afternoons are the best. The color in the trees and of course deer season, and its usually quiet ( or boring as Snow put it) but for me its kind of a vacation from the heat, cold, storms, canes etc....I can go days without pulling up the NWS or run models etc it gives me a chance to reset my inner weather nerd before the mind numbing and quite frankly boring winter storm season sets up.

Speaking of nice weather we should do a get together somewhere soon for dinner ( at least the Pitt Co crowd), maybe somewhere we can eat outside.....like Mellow Mushroom, Basils etc.....
