CMC and GFS Para have something coming NE out of the GOM in 10 days or so could be tropical in nature even given the time of year.
Hmmm interesting, I noticed the Euro seems to have it as well but it moves it east off the coast of FL instead. We are starting to get into the time of year where we can see home-brew storms from stalled frontal boundaries.
Warm and muggy feeling for so early in the day -- high local dewpoints, and a boundary nearby (just to my northwest) and the first cell of the day already popping up in Johnston County -- all conspiring to give me hope of seeing some rain, and maybe a nice storm. Knock on wood!
Had a nice storm roll through tonight with some interesting behavior. Radar showed a bit of weak rotation, very broad. As it rolled through my winds started out of the southwest and picked up till they peaked around 25-35mph. Then it became dead calm for about 15-20 seconds and then the winds switched rapidly to the NE about 20-30mph. I've never seen this in a storm before, not sure if it was just the updrafts/downdrafts in the storm causing the shifting winds or some type of boundary/outflow but interesting for sure. Then had a string bolt of lightning knock power out for a second or two.
