91L surprisingly exploded overnight and has been classified TD 8 with advisories starting at 11....awaiting the track info etc.....the stronger it gets the further west I think it makes it....the models keep it weak and it gets to the coast if it can get deeper the steering should have more effect on it....going to be tough for the NHC to make a call since the models do little with it...neat little tidbit...those clouds we have right now are actually blowoff of the storms firing over TD8 thats how close it is already...also the shear should let up some in the next 12 hrs and it will be over the gulf stream and it has a extremely well defined LLC.....if it does deepen and hit it will be one of the oddest approach angles I have ever seen resulting in a landfall.
edit: first track map from NHC pretty close to the models...and they keep it slow so that means the shear would keep it beat up most of the time.....or should a least...for this to have a chance it needs to go faster than 9-10 mph and beat the front, the HH should find TS Hermine when they get out there....

12Z CMC and GFS both further west with the system, but SE shear is going to be 20-30 over it the entire time it looks like so this doesnt suggest any real strengthening but it but it would blow the moisture and storms to the NW which could increase chances for rain and clouds for a few days and if it does get as far west as the CMC has it then it could even mean rain.
The midday GFS gives us (Pitt County) more from 99L than from 91L which only clips the Outer Banks. These model solutions can get weird eh?
Next weekend I suspect we'll all be watching with great interest the Atlantic's next storm from Africa, oh boy the wild solutions we'll be seeing in the days ahead, lol.
Cheers!

Tops are warming rather quickly and the LLC looks to have been outrun and is opening up...might be bad news for TD 8, unless they find a new LLC under the MLC, plane is out there now and finding surface winds 35 mph already, but if it doesnt start firing new storms soon it might end up falling apart.

I expect this will slowly strengthen and when it nears the coast I could see it deepening quickly to a decent TS. Nothing extreme but the Outer Banks will probably see gusty winds, maybe TS force, and heavy rain from it. Since it developed in a high pressure environment pressures will be lower so 995-1000mb could easily produce hurricane force winds.

Currently a small storm firing right over the center. Whether or not shear tears it apart remains to be seen. The 00z runs tonight will be interesting to watch.

Really not expecting much, shear is a just to much. On the upside I got 1" of rain today from the onshore flow associated with the LP offshore and the H to the north.....GFDL takes it into the sounds at around 996, thats only 60-70 miles east of here and it wouldnt take much more of a west trend to put this thing solidly ashore over eastern NC. Of course there has to be a something to begin with and that something has to be strong to make it matter and unless the models really miss something that isnt gonna happen.

They now weaken the shear as it gets closer but still have it turning OTS but the NHC doessay the plot takes it within 45 miles of Cape Hatteras this is a shift west at 11....its trying to fire storms around the LLC and it gets a A for effort given the hostile conditions....

The NAM strengthens it decently up to its closest approach and brushes the outer banks. It doesn't look like it will officially make landfall but close enough to give some rain and gusty winds. Possibly a warning of what's to come (September 7-11th).
Already moving NW now so it might get within 50 miles or so of Hatteras the circulation around it will send some showers our way again today I bet, I ended up with 1" in the gauge yesterday.

Actually looking better on sat, there are even storms firing right on the LLC.....its gonna be wide right though and might give Hatteras some 40 mph gust....should give us a shot at some more rain though....
