Earl is strengthening quickly and will probably be a hurricane by the time recon arrives, roughly 5am. Looks like it will stay south of the US but it is a sign of the impending uptick in activity across the Atlantic basin.
Making landfall right now and really wrapping up nicely on satellite. Easily could have made cat 3-4 status if it had another 12-24 hours over the warm waters. Fortunately for those involved it didn't.
