For keeping track of temps and precip made it to 28 at PGV last night forecast was for 34, they always go to high on nights like last night, one day they will figure out that PGV radiates well and always ends up 3-5 degrees under MOS guidance on nights like last night...

Rocky Mount always tends to radiate really well, I remember Greg Fishel talking about how many times they tend to run a few degrees colder than surrounding areas and his theory was that the elevation had to do with it, I believe he said they were a little lower than surrounding areas so they were in a "bowl" of sorts. Since cold air sinks and is dense it sort of "gathers" around there. Anyone ever hear this before?

Sure, PGV is the same the airport is on low ground near the river and its always 3-5 degree colder at the airport than my house, elevation here is around 65 ft its 20 at the airport. There is a place just inland from ILM in a low spot in the sandy pine forest that can be 10-15 degrees colder than the surrounding areas during optimal cooling, they even think it has been below 0 there a couple of times in the last few years when other places are 5-10 above.

Getting some thunder to my west now, looks like good storm coverage for central eastern NC.....gonna get me a beer and chill on the porch when it rolls thru...
I was the only one on my shift last night that brought a coat with me. The other guys said, "Man it's nice out." I said, "Wait for it...".
Haha yeah same thing here at work except I forgot to bring my coat! It's currently 40F outside with a forecast high of only 47 today, pretty chilly for late March. The CAD signature is pretty impressive too. I'm getting some upper 30s showing up on the NC map, 37-39 just NE of the Triangle.
Models bring quite a few storms over us through the period. It was nice not to have rain every 2-3 days there for awhile. Total precip over the run is around 4 inches for most of eastern NC.
It was 37 when I woke up this morning, looks like frost or a light freeze tomorrow night, I am going to have to cover up my plants that have started growing in the past 2 weeks, normal last freeze for here is around april 15th so I still expect another frost or freeze even after this one.

We are in a bit more blocky pattern now, and they may indeed be another close call in early April according to the GFS, which did pretty good calling this cold shot.....I have a few strawberry plants out but thats it I will cover them tonight though.
