Been a long time since we have seen a true springtime squall line with widespread 60+ winds...probably will peak west of here around 4-6 and be on the down swing by the time it gets here.
Yeah only hope is if it moves a bit faster than forecast. It has plenty of dynamics to work with and winds will be howling at 850 so won’t take much to get that to the surface.

Took a look at soundings this morning and it shows 70mph winds only 1k feet above the ground. That’s insane and it won’t take much at all to pull this to the surface.
We are still a good 12 hrs out on the squall line, hi res show several discrete supes over west central and central NC this afternoon that could be trouble.....

just had a nasty gust front move in a little after the main line. radar had 100mph less than .1 miles from my location.
Flag pole is noticeably bent here. one student said 3 ceiling tiles blew down out of the cafeteria building (roof damage??) and some in the gym said they felt it rocking.
Literally could hear it just like the rumble of a train.... crazy
Pgv doesn't show any winds over 40 lastnight but it sure seemed like we had winds higher than that. Certainly no evidence of severe level winds but it sure sounded like a hurricane was hitting the house for 15 to 20 minutes there last night around midnight
Just a nice, gentle rain here with a few rumbles of thunder.
I think you squashed our segment of the line Bozart. And so much so, there wasn't even a single rumble of thunder by the time it got to the west side of Greenville (or if there was, it was so weak the sound from my fan drowned it out.)

I was knocked out by 9pm and didnt hear a thing all night. Based on standing water and street flooding I'm gonna guess the radar estimates could very easily be underdone.
Beware the Nov nighttime squall lines......they can be nasty and this night looks more tornadoey than normal....
You called it. A couple tor reports in Carteret County.
Maybe a repeat this afternoon along the coast as well....inland gust into the 40-45 range seem likely this afternoon as the storm really cranks up.....might be enough to knock a few trees down given the saturated soil and leaners left over from the canes over the summer.
