Kicking this off with the Enhanced risk threat for us tomorrow, seems likely to see borderline severe winds over almost all areas and a fairly high likely hood of winds in excess of 50-60 in the squall possible....

HRRR has the discrete cells out in front if this happens there will be some tornados associated with them, I bet they get hooky quick given the wind profile...
What I saw earlier today near Stantonsburg. I saw large-scale rotation in the supercell, but no apparent rotation in the wall cloud. And all day long -- typical for these high-shear, low-instability scenarios -- I observed not one single flash of lightning or rumble of thunder, ever. Just another breezy, showery day.
Don't know about the rest of you but here in the medical district of Greenville it was nothing more than a breezy day. Heard some distant thunder and that was it. This was like calling for 8" of snow in winter and getting a flurry, lol.

I heard a little thunder but the southerly flow and warm mid levels really reduced the threat of a lot of thunder and lightening....most of the storms were lower top convection....ended up being more of a tornado threat day than expected, probably 6-10 touchdowns in NC maybe more.....another dozen I bet between VA and SC.
Well...it rocked here in wake co yesterday. 1st storm came around noon and knocked the stop lights out and power over most of raleigh. Easily 60mph winds...we got sent home from work...getting home was a nightmare...cops at every stoplight guiding traffic. I probably go through 30 stoplights
Round 2 around 5pm in fuquay. Insane storm again with off and on 60mph plus winds for 15minutes...easily sustained at 40mph...3 close lightning hits..it was crazy...pine trees were bent sideways...it felt like a hurricane really. Best day of storms in years for me. Finally.
Cool photo. Definitely a surprise day though. 2 long track supercells. Sucks it was mostly a hail event though. The supercell that produced the tornado move right over my office in raleigh...but no tornado at the time. Here is a photo my cousin took near zebulon...wait...how do u post a photo?
